I think you need something you can tune...
Im really a fan of tunercode now, Im dying to try it on my car, so Id say you can get a Calum RT and get tunercode (which is cheaper), or get an EMS, but I definitely think the JWT is holding you down...

I'm so glad I went for the megasquirt on my Subaru. I learned some things that are invaluable.

Taiden, you've been out for a good while, we now have Dave with TunerCode. It's a game changer. Check out the features list.

BTW Calum Real Time has nothing to do on what you can or can't control. It gives us access to the whole ECU, what you do from there is up to you and your skills. The main reason tuning is not as advanced as it could be is simply because we don't have XDF files (definition files on where to look in the bin file) that are well defined.

I was able to to lots with a B14 RT. Limited XDF definitions where the biggest limiting factor, then the OBDII corrections.

nistune is great, seen several high hp skylines using nistune.. however it doesnt have all the stuff that the stand alones have.. or tuner code..

you said you have an "intake manifold" are you running the IACV? im better thats the issue an has nothin to do with the ecu..

Will it do switchable maps?
Electronic boost control?
Flat shift?
Speed Density? (MAP based fuel metering)
Constant based traction control?
Built in wideband and egt logging?

These are all things that are well within the scope of the Megasquirt 2, and megasquirt 3 makes MS2 look like a solar powered calculator.

I'm really glad that TunerCode is available now. It solves 99.99% of all your tuning needs, but megasquirt does go beyond the scope of "typical" tuning.

Oh and switchable maps are significant especially if you're running a variable valve lift setup like the VE.

could be something simple like his Blow off valve, what type do you have, if it's a e-bay one it does not have the right spring pressure and it takes long for it to close if it even does, the cheapest blowoff valve i HAVE SEEN THAT WORKS GREAT IS THE TURBO XS.I would say disconnect the vacuum and see if it makes a difference but the surge will still give you the stalling issue, JWT may just not be your issue.

Is the mega 3 really good? the people I know didnt like it very much

An EMS is better than Calum + tunercode (for now at least), but its more expensive (the ECU itself and the tuner)...
Dave is working on some really cool stuff for the tunercode, he recently added an option which allows you to controll VVL activation using the Calum (something you couldnt do before)...

I dont know why but I really prefer the AEM to the MegaSquirt...

the AEM is more professional than the megasquirt 2, not so much the 3. Who do you know with an MS3? They haven't been out very long and the boards were sold out on preorder. Anyone who has one now is likely a MS nut, and the chances of them saying they don't like it is pretty low.

My megasquirt setup cost me $350 including TunerStudioMS

The people I know are (were) running the MS 2, thats why I asked about the 3rd because I havent seen any (Im from Costa Rica)...
They had a hard time getting it to run properly, and the cars final results were crappy, one was installed in a DET by someone who "knows his stuff", tho I thought not so much judging the results, and another in an 20V powered AE86...

Wow man I must say thats extremely cheap for an EMS
