When you fix it run a sprung disc. the engagment is far less harsh then with a unsprung disc.

It depends on your driving style. But you can't expect your transmission to be reliable as stock. Above 175 whp you are simply shortening the lifespan of the transmission. It will last you a few months if you drive like you stole it, maybe a few more years if you baby it.

Agreed, Sprung is the way to go if you want your transmission to last.

342whp 310lbft for over two years. The tranny is still in good shape but I have a p11 for my ve-t project.

I think it depends a lot on abuse as well.

I see people breaking B15/P11 trannys, but it seems people who have these trannys 'purposefully' abuse them more than they would a b14 because they think they can take it but they end up breaking anyways.

I don't beat on my b14 tranny and I daily drive my car. Actually, it's my only car(may soon change). Haven't put a ton of miles on the car yet w/the turbo(maybe 4k), but I'm curious as to how long this b14 tranny w/160k miles on it will last with 16lbs of boost from a 2871R.

I went through a B13 transmission with about 300whp and it just rolled the teeth off of second gear, wasn't from a hard shift or anything. Not to say that it wasn't fatigued from hard shifts but when it went it was just normal acceleration, not even hard acceleration. This was with a sprung clutch.

My B14 transmission the same thing, except third gear just stripped out and I was at about 325whp. But it may have also been from hard driving and it just decided to go. This was with an unsprung clutch

I just went through a B15 transmission because of hard shifting (with unsprung clutch) and I'm guessing I was around 350-375whp when it happened. This transmission should have been fine if you just ease into each gear and then step on it...

My guess is that with a sprung clutch, easy shifts, and good lube you should be okay to around 275-300whp but don't be super surprised if the gear stacks separate under throttle and your gears let go in a B13/B14 tranny at those levels.

if i can get a year and a half to 2 years on a tranny with smart driving then thats worth it imo....these guys that dont do any hard driving...do you race ya car at all?

I have broken 3rd gear before NA. It all depends on how much you beat the tranny and the overall condition of it when you finally start putting power to it.

yep you should open the tranny up and look for damage prior to boosting. I did this on my b13 and reinforced the case.

I'm pretty confident I could put 400 WHP through a B13 transmission all day long with no issues. Hell, even 500 if you're willing to rev the engine out enough. It's not the power that will kill it.
