$700 turbo rebuild?
i have an sr20det redtop and i blew my turbo... the local mechanic is trying to convince me to rebuild it.. the thing is he wants to charge me 700 or so.. it is worth it or am i better off buying another one? thanks for your opinions!

thats probably about what it would cost to remove, rebuild, then reinstall it.

if you can do the work yourself I would probably step it up to a t28 or better if your going to be spending that kind of cash

Id rather spend that much buying a bigger turbo

yea but isn't e gonna have to change the manifold, downpipe, etc for a larger turbo? Unless he shaves the block. Also maf, injectors, tune.

you dont have to max the new turbo out.

fitting a t28 is easy. But depends on the size.

depends on the current mods he has and what type of manifold and all that. a larger turbo doesnt always mean you need a ton of upgrading. just dpeends on what he has currently
