Lol you are sick of problems with your SR and you want a RX7 instead. All I hear about with those is problems with the apex seal or something at the 3 or 400hp mark.

You are going to have problems with any car. At least with the Nissans it's less problems the parts are cheaper and lots of cool people on the forums for your car

^ i agree. anything with big power or highly modded is going to have its fair share of problems. thats cars for ya. you just have to maintain it more often.

One of the biggest regrets I have is selling my beat-up ass nx hard top. It had only a 10:1, HS WAI, stock lightened FW, act clutch, jwt/es motor mounts, ur 2pc pulley set, suspension, and weight reduction(yes stock header, exhaust, cams, ecu, fuel, etc...) and ran a 13.9@100 on streets w/ only a 2.1 60'. coulda been in the low 13's, maybee high 12's w/ s4's, ecu chip, nice header, exhaust, and slicks. beat-up ass nx on stock wheels flat blacked. sleeper as hell. Beat up on many a 5.0's.

Hell, it seems every year I have issues at some point or another. I figure if a 400whp motor lasts me 30K miles it is a good thing given the abuse I give these things. This current motor i s about 5K or so old. I've started driving the car less, and having more fun when I do drive her. Drove her to work all week, but I noticed I'm only pulling 12-14 vacuum. Not sure what is up with it, but she runs strong as hell and I have zero blowby with the new motor. I suspect a valve issue.

But just keep at it. Have fun. Cars in general aren't worth pouring thousands into. They just break. But when you are purposeful in your builds, and patient, the rewards can be extremely fun and gratifying.

If I gave up every time I got let down, this car would have been sold the first time I broke a P11 tranny lol.

How much weight did you take off the car to achieve those numbers?

lets see, this was many years ago. I think it was 2140lbs, no spare, tools, 1/8tank, and basically gutted to wipers and headlights

Problem number one, you have two heavily modified vehicles with nothing stock and reliable to drive on a daily basis. Having a guaranteed mode of transportation can take alot of stress off the situation.

The VE isn't really modified. Just I/H/E. And I wouldn't even mod the RX7 very much if I get one. It would be more of a cruise around and enjoy the beautiful car kind of drive with it.

I don't know what I'm going to do yet, but I don't really want to get rid of it.

If anyone had an excuse to leave because of fustrations and problems it was me about 2 years ago. I bought my car put the jdm motor in and put 10k miles on it without a hitch. Then did my first turbo setup and put another 10k miles on that at stock boost level without problems other than one trans then got boost happy and started going through motors left and right, cracking ring lands and melting pistons from just plain out running way too much boost for a t25, then put a t28 on and accidently put the mbc too high and cracked another ring land. I went through 5 motors within a year. Again this was my turbo learning curve. Thats when i realized if i want big power and to go faster, a large frame t3 was the only way to go for that to keep the heat and backpressure down.

I wanted to give up soo bad after going through 5 jdm motors. I then built my motor using all top notch parts and built it to last. I put almost 11k miles of absolute every day torture on that motor. Only problem was trannies. lol

So the thing is if you want it to be reliable you really should consider just making sure everything is in line and stout. Even then, things happen here and there that are out of your control.

Dont give up on it. I was very glad i didnt.
