FWD SR20DETT doable?
A bunch of bored Nissan-Nazi we are have been discussing if its possible to do an sr20DETT FWD. Now it may sound impractical to some but my research took me to some serious hp numbers for the ones who did it on their RWD engines, I thought I'd get an expert opinion or feedback on this type of project before dwelling into the unknown...

Has anyone done this before? FWD SR20DETT?

Yes, it is doable.

With enough budget, time, and fabrication skills, nearly anything is doable.

of course it is doable, only matter is how good your welder is to-fabricate the exhaust and intake pipings.

advantage is that two small turbos maybe could fit better in the tight area between motor and watercooler than one big turbo. Disadvantage is that a turbo gains efficiency with its general size, so two small turbos will always have a worse efficiency than one big thing. So for topend power single should be best but a twin solution could be better spooling wise.
I am considering a twin thing for my rwd 240sx, i could use the fast spooling vtg-turbos from borg warner normally located in the 997turbo. Borg warner sells them now officially.

But at the end its really hard to beat a well made twin scroll setup. A german evo driver put a full race twin scroll kit on his 2 liter. He makes 15psi @3200rpm in 5th and 520fwhp@26psi on pump gas circuit racing proof. Hard to beat

dual turbo instead of twin turbo?? two different sizes?

small turbo for low end and lag free acceleration, and large turbo for top end..

but you are always limited by FWD ............

Two different sizes will not work as well. Look at how the GTR is engineered and you have a pretty good start.

The GTR treats each side of the engine individually. That means that each side of the engine has its own 3 cylinders, turbo, intercooler, maf, throttle body etc. It's like they stuffed two 3 cylinder engines in the bay. It works.

Since SR's uses MAF, doing so with the Twin set-up would mean switching to MAP read?

I was thinking that the exhaust would end up like a 4-2-1 set up. The intake would be 2-1 with significantly equal lengths.

Also if 2 cylinders will drive one significantly small turbine say a t28 Disco or a t25 would it help if the compression is raised to say 10:1 like that of the UKDM to aide spooling action?

I wanted to do this years ago, but I don't have dough for this.

Use a t25/t28, then a gt40 or something, then do one rear-mounted (i.e. corvette type). If you go with a standalone, you can use MAP and be able to tune better. If you were to use a VE head, plus use a N1 ITM (to have access to 8 injectors), that would work better so that you can tune across the whole band. Such as use 500cc injectors up to 4k rpms, then switch to 8 injectors at 4-5k+. Replace spring/retainers and rev to 9-10k rpms would help too, to get everything out of the gt40+ turbo.

This would be a nice street-driven car, as you wouldn't have huge lag in the lower range while using a large turbo.

I need to hit the lottery...

I can't remember if the larger turbo goes up front or in the back tho?

two turbos working in succession of each other made these diesel's in the 335d pretty potent... But then diesel technology might be completely different in how it responds to boost... I dunno...

you can do it, ive seen a k20 tt you would need smaller turbos but imo its not worth it.
