How much??
I appologize if this has been covered before but I have a question??

I have a 91 se-r with a Primera swap, small turbo set up consisting of bluebird mani, t25/28 hybrid running off of the 9lb wastegate. Stock cams, JWT ecu, rail mounted FPR, 370 injectors, new 255 in the tank, GTI-r maf, also has a VAFC wired up but no adjustments being made at this time.

My question is: Friend of mine gave me a turbosmart manual boost controller and I'm wanting to hook it up and up the boost a little, say maybe 12-13lbs. Is this safe with my current injectors or will I need to step up to larger ones?

Also what is the max PSI for that turbo?

Like I said if this has been covered I appologize. Just would like to get some advice from people that have "been there, done that"

Thanks!

I don't believe 12-13 psi shouldn't be a problem on that turbo or injectors. I know people who have ran up to 14-15psi on those and I've ran 17psi on my t28. However, I wouldn't go much more without knowing how your a/f ratios look. It would be better if you have a wideband to monitor your ratios. Another thing is your hp goals, if your planning to make more than 250hp, those injectors would have to be upgraded. Check the link below for the injector that would meet your goal.

Here's an excellent link for injectors and whp output:

Yeah I should have listed this too, I have an LC-1 to monitor my AFR's with.

Thanks for the link on the injectors too!

the 370s at 4bar fuel press are good to like 290 or so. Whem I had my T28 with S4 cams I maxed the 370s at 14psi making 283whp, at 14 the were still delivering good fuel, at 16 it was leaning out... Ill say you can boost 14psi safely

Ok, thaks guys!

Guess I'll just start upping the boost and watch my wideband, maybe add a little fuel with the VAFC if needed. Dont really think I'll want much more than 14psi anyway, not a huge fan a wheel spin/wasted energy.

One more quick question from you guys "in the know" I've heard conflicting stories about this and would like to find a definative answer.

Does the Primera make more power than a reg sr20 given the same amount of boost?

Like I said, I've heard everything from yes to hell yes to no, not really.

Thanks again guys, just trying to learn as I go here!

Ill say its all about the condition of the engine...
you will make a little more power than a DET because of the CR...
with that T28 hybrid you will get a nice amount of wheel spin past 10psi... at 14 I had no traction 1st or 2nd when shifting hard on 17 inch wheels with street tires... not the best tires thats for sure, brand new but some cheap brand

What Primera did the motor come out of? P10 Primeras came with 9:5:1, 10:1, and some even came 11:5:1 sr20de's. P11 Primeras came with vvl motors too.

10:1 motor

then yes it will make more power than a SE-R engine due to higher CR ratio, but also you need to watch very carefully your AFRs and your boost
