SR18VE turbo questions
i have a spare SR16VE which i plan to build for my GTiR.

my plan was to use the SR16 crank, 90mm pistons, SR16 cams (with adj gears) custom rods from greg, built, mazworx headgasket equal length mani to help reduce reversion etc etc

there was a little discussion before where i saw charles had posted about which pistons to use. i remember him saying that the CP 12.5:1 pistons will be around 9.0:1 ish in an SR16 motor. im shit at using CR calculators and couldnt workout what the CR will be close to with these pistons.

also if there is work done in the CC for the 90mm bore it will change the CR too, thoughts on that?

i was thinking of using the .82 T3 GT3076R, will this blower work well on this engine?

what are peoples thoughts on an SR18VE turbo setup?

cheers

According to the calculator, 12.5:1 SR20VE pistons would be around 10:1 with the 68mm stroke from the SR16VE crank. 12.5:1 SR20DE(T) Pistons, around 11:1

If the head cc is increased, compression will go down

dont waste your time.

throw in a 86 mm crank and do the 90mm pistons.

Piston speeds at 10k+ on a 86x90 motor scare me lol. Is he running a deck plate at all?

This would be a neat little motor. But wouldn't you miss the quicker spool and higher tq especially in a gti-r?

i dont believe so.

what do you rev to cory ?

gtirwez do a 86x86 built ve with the 30r and and it will out perfrom the small stroke big bore hands down.

W the current set up I only rev it out to about 8.6k. Making peak power at 8.2k

well as we all know the GTiR gearbox is made of chocolate so i really want to keep the torque down, but this SR18 will rev quite happily and as the car will be mostly a track weapon its life will be high revs anyway.

cheers for the replies chaps

If I could do it all over again I would go big bore on the SR16VE with a large frame turbo. .82 hot side or bigger. I believe that would make a killer street car. Especially at 10:1+ compression.

I could only imagine the dyno graph on something like that revving to 10.5k under boost.
