B15 trans with P11 FD and Nismo Diff....
Some people don't think you can have traction with turbo fwd... This proves otherwise. This was done on the STREET. At least 500 WHP (not exactly sure of # since head setup changed since I had it). Find 2nd gear...

Oh there it is

ouch!! scary to see. what tires were you using to hook that good 500 whp in second gear, so we can stay away from them, just joking.

yeah, i was well above 500whp and with new 205/50 Falkens i could not hook in 2nd for anything, nor 3rd, nor most all of 4th as well. lol. On my daily driven boost of 20psi 2nd nope, 3rd would try to grab at the end and 4th would pull fine. On 30psi, it was game over 1st through 4th.

This is why im skipping the P11 trans and going straight to the 6 speed. Have you seen the gears in comparison?

Anyways good luck on the fix. Find a QG18 gearstack and throw it in and go.

Like I've said before, I don't get how you have so little traction when I KNOW that you can. There is alot in alignment, proper suspension, and having a functioning LSD. I've only seen you play with engine power, but I spent several years as I was changing setups also playing to get more traction. Years ago when I had a T25 I spun thru 3rd... Then I started to learn.

Good idea, I was going to do the same a year ago, but instead sold this car... IMO this wouldn't have happened to me because of several factors.

It isn't quite that simple, but yes a QG stack is going to be the donor.

Tires are a very small part to get it to hook.

... Only when that happens... This is after several years. Worth it as I never played slip and slide.

I thought this was a fore sale thread. Carnage is much more entertaining. =D

Does that "P11 FD" stand for "P11 Final Drive"? And if so, why would the final drive ratio affect the B15 tranny? Or does that not really matter in this case and is just specific information on your tranny set-up?

IE....I am confused as to how (or if) changing the final drive would affect the longevity of the transmission. Seems that gear is only used on the freeways while cruising.

You could always treat the B15 tranny gears (replacement gears) with cryo/shot-peening/de-burring/ etc.....before you install the new gear stack. That may be an option.
