car running rich
So I decided to clean up some engine bay stuff and run my fpr off the fuel rail, well in doing so the fpr was acting up and wouldnt hold pressure to begin with, now that I have everything put together the fpr works and is holding pressure but car is running super rich, its cutting out in boost and running 10.00. Anybody got an ideas, Im thinking the maf might be going but when I unplug it car dies. Everything was hooked up right before and ran perfect. Anybody got anything? motor is gtir and z32 maf

43.5, I dropped the fpr down to 10 psi and it was still running rich. Is the red light on the ECU suppose to go off whenever the car is running? I swapped out the ecu for another working and still doing the same thing.

did you try to manually scan your ECU? OBDI or OBDII

and having the fpr set at 10psi is harmful man

I tried an ecu diagnostic where i tested the flashing lights and the ECU came up with nothing wrong with it. I know 10 psi is low but I was trying to test it, The only thing I can think of is the maf, car worked fine before everything else seems to be okay, only thing that gets me is when I unplug the maf the car dies, so it must be sending mixed readings. If the maf is bad would I be able to drive to redline and the maf being unplugged kill the car?

and you returned the computer to its normal state right?...
when my maf unplugs the car instantly dies...
when maf is bad the afrs get all fucked up, you should try another maf and see what happens

Yeah returned ecu and yes when I unplug the maf the car dies. I put the stock regulator back on today and it was still doing the same thing. another strange thing happened today my starter started dying and then it just quite working alltogether. Besides the maf I dunno what else to try.

hmm check for the batery voltage, just to check that the alternator (I think that is what its called) is working properly

did you reprogram your ecu for the z32 maf?

my safc2 says 12.4 volts from the battery, I can pop the clutch and start the car and the safc2 reads 13.4 and it stays at that so the alternator must be working. Yes andrew the car was programed already for it, car was running perfectly fine before. All I did was try to mount the fpr closer to the fuel rail and now it runs like garbage. Basically I think the maf is telling the ecu to put out way more fuel than it needs. ITs running so rich its backfiring and puffing black smoke AEM wideband read 10.00 and goes --- its so rich. CAn a maf function properly but send the wrong voltage to the ECU?
