Progressive boost would certainly be an option and would allow high boost and prevent you from running into the surge limit. As would making the engine flow better at low and mid rpm (hard to do but would make more power regardless and the boost could be turned up while avoiding surge).

your speaking of boost per RPM? something like Boost Controllers & Electronics - HKS EVC 6 Electronic Boost Controller or RallySportDirect.com - Turbosmart E-boost2 Boost Controller. It would be nice to own but I would think 600 bucks might be better spent to get a better turbo. I'm a little bummed now. I had a choice with this turbo or for 50 bucks more i could of got a garrett t04e 50 trim. But he talked me into the faster boost of the t04b. Since I was unhappy with the lag of the ebay t04e 57 trim it wasn't hard to do.

Yes I'm talking about boost by rpm however I wouldn't spend $600 on it. Either get a stand-alone with it built in or get creative/fancy with a cheap, home-brew manual/electronic solution.

my 3076r will surge on over 20psi. but before that it seems pretty good. The PR up here makes it a little more surge prone. The 35r surges really really bad, and is only really good for drag.

But instead of switch wired into the dash for high boost use a RPM window switch instead.

That's what I'm talking about. A little ingenuity goes a long way.
Do 15 psi until 5,500 rpm and then do 18 or 20 or 22 afterward.

although depending on how the solenoid closes (whether it's normally open or normally closed) I might have used the wrong wire coming out of the msd box. the gray wire is normally closed and the yellow is normally open. So might have to switch those or you'll get high boost in low rpm and low boost in high rpm

I am using a EGR solenoid for mine too. 10psi for low, then when the solenoid is kicked on it runs 15psi.
