Let's "Disco"!!!
Between a great sale going on right now from Garrett, GregV helping me out by purchasing my wheels, and selling off some of my upgrade items, I was able to purchase the GT2860RS with the .84 housing. This is more turbo than I planned on running, as I initially just wanted to upgrade to a t28. However, the opportunity presented itself, so I thought what the heck. That being said, here is why I am posting...

My initial upgrade setup is the following:
444cc@4bar
255 pump
N62 MAF
S4 cams
T25/28 hybrid
avenir mani/j-pipe
Intercooler
Water/meth injection
Nistune
3" dp catback
Upgraded clutch
HKS Boost COntroller

However, I sold Nistune ( I still have a JWT ECU that I will have reprogrammed), and the t25/28 hybrid was only a t25. So now my upgrades look like this:
444cc@4bar
255 pump (installed)
N62 MAF
S4 cams (installed)
GT2860RS
avenir mani/j-pipe
Intercooler (installed)
Water/meth injection
JWT ECU (installed)
3" dp catback (installed)
upgraded clutch (installed)
HKS Boost Controller

So I have some questions about the new setup, and whether or not what I have will work, what I will need to get, or what I will need to change. I have searched a lot, and its been pretty hard to come up with the information I need.

Being that I had a t25 setup before, what will bolt up to the new turbo? It appears that the manifold/j-pipe I have will work, which means the downpipe will still work as well. Will I need new fittings for coolant/oil, or are they the same size on the new turbo? Same restrictor? Same gaskets? Someone is sending me a new dump tube.

Do I have enough fueling? Should I ditch the 444 injectors and go larger? If so, what size?

What will I need to make the turbo fit? I have read that there will be a wastegate issue. So I could either get a new wastegate bracket and wastegate as suggested like the links below. Also, Does it matter what the base psi the actuator is, since I have a boost controller? I assume if I get the 6psi listed below, that will be the base psi with no controller, then I have the ability to bump it up.
Wastegate Bracket - SR20/GT28RS : atpturbo.com
Wastegate Actuator 6 PSI : atpturbo.com

Clearance for the intake? Will I need to grind the block to fit the larger intake pipe in?

If there is anything I am leaving out, please let me know. The turbo will arrive next week, and I want to have everything ready to install. Keep in mind, I already had a t25 setup on the car, so oil/coolant lines are already run. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brandon

umm i would get a gtir mani to run with it, and your going to either have to grind the block OR shave down the mani to turbo flange (andres miko way) to make it clear.

as far as fuel i guess it would depend on your goal. im running subie 520s to be safe, but i dont plan on going past 15psi.

make sure you ground your maf down good. for some reason i kept having issues when i did my swap with a jwt ecu and z32 maf.

I had a buddy let me use his Disco to put in my car to see if it fit. With an Avenir manifold/jpipe it wont fit (unless you shave some stuff off) and I didn't like that idea.

Like Kaotekxe said, It would be alot easier with a GTiR mani, it pushes the turbo away from the block a little bit (No grinding). Gives you that extra 1/2" for more room

no grinding needed with the gtir mani and the rs

Awesome start guys, thank you. So I will see about sourcing a gti-r mani. What about the j-pipe? Also, I assume I will need a new downpipe now then as well?

As far as injectors, I dont mind running a larger injector. But I will have water/meth as well, so I figured I would be ok. I imagine I wont be running more than 12psi or so.

if u get a rs just to run 12lbs, might aswell stick with the t25 man. also ur ganna wanna get a gtir jpipe and no the t25 dp will not work unless u cut and rotate the flange for it to work

T25 man? The GTiR is made for a 28... IMO it would be easier to get a GTiR manifold rather than grinding down the block/turbo to get it to fit. GTiR Manifold + GTiR JPipe and call it a day

Ahhh alright, gotcha now.

If you already ordered the RS, IMO the easiest route to go would be GTiR manifold and jpipe. Others can feel free to chime in....

ya get a gtir mani/jpipe. i got mine on the uk ebay for a steal dude.. literally the dude ended up paying for shipping and didnt make any money off it.

im running a rs with a gtir mani/jpipe and i had to grind down the block. my 3in intake pipe would not fit on it.. if i had to do it again i would have shaved off the flange, it hold the turbo a little higher and wouldnt had to have shaved the block. so maybe if you guys run a smaller intake pipe and thats why no grinding/shaving is necessary?
