Low-compression engine w/o turbo
So, I was planning building my VE+T in stages, starting with replacing the 16VE pistons that are in it, with some low compression CP pistons (9:1), as well as upgrading the internals. Basically building the block for turbo, but without a turbo.

However, I plan to run it without turbo first (as I need to save up for it first). Will it run? And what should I do to make it run at its best?

It will run.
At the least you'll want to bump the base timing up a couple degrees to compensate for the slower burn.

That was fast XD.

Thanks. I guess it's gonna be less powerful than stock? Even with 16VE cams, right?

I'd wager so, yes.

Probably gonna be slower, I ran my Avenir DET without turbo for like a week, with ECU and injectors and manifold of a stock DE and it was slow ass ****...

im doing the same thing right now, got my rods and pistons on my shelf right now (cp, eagle) and am about to pull my motor to take it to the machine shop. logically it would be slower, but who gives a s*%^, once you slap on that turbo, its all good!
