Floated a valve ? Or bent valve ?
Not sure where to start with this but I was on my way to work and the unthinkable happend . I lost power and felt like a missfire so I pulled it over and sounded like bad valve tap . I was only a half mile from my shop so I nursed it . I pulled the #1 plug and the electrode was crushed and the center ceramic was gonzo ! Upon futher inspection I noticed my dumb ass was running 5 series plugs oh crap ! I forgot to mention that it's boosted with a w11 set up . I know I'm suposed to run 7 series plugs . Now I pulled the valve cover and found the shim missing on the # 1 cyl intake spring . Is the head junk or saveable ? Has this happend to anyone ? Does any one have a ve head or parts ?It has good compresion 185 so I do t think the valve has damage . But does the spring need to be reshimed or replaced ? . To many question sorry .

The shim thing happened a while back when the throttle screw went loose, went to the chamber and apparently got in between the valve and seat and the shim popped out. we put the shim back and checked for any bent valve but it was all good, Good luck

Ok update dropped the oil pan found the watch battery looking shim on top of the windage tray in the bottom end . I rotated the motor so the piston was all the way down and forced the spring down and put the shim back in . Buttoned it all up and started it up still has a a valve tap . But it gets loud like a rod knock then goes away . I don't see anything Down inside the cyl .if there is still a big peice of spark plug in there what's the best way to get it out ? I did another copression check it still has 185 . Looks like I'm pulling the head .Ok no more reving to 9k !!! Lol

I'd be surprised if the chunk wasn't in tiny peices.

When we were doing the qr25 power valve screw recalls, we'd take the exhaust mani/cat off an look in there. Chunks of stuff usually blow out the exhaust. When I've retapped spark plug threads I've always left the plug out and cranked it hoping it would blow out.

/\ it sounds like a huge peice still bouncing around in there . And a matter of fact the new plug has scuff marks on the electrode ground tab so now i deff suspect something is still in there . I'm going to see if my tool guy will let me barrow a scope to look in the combust chamber . And I'll try that trick of pulling the plug out and starting it up hoping it will blow out . Man I don't want to pull the head . Onetime I had a customer bring his mustang gt into my shop after he did a tune himself dropping the end screw peice from the spark plug into the combust chamber (stupid bosch plugs ) and drove it like that for a day and didn't damage the valves whatsoever ! Don't know how he managed that one !Sorry for my rambling it's been a long frustrating day I'm going to have a stiff drink and post my results tomarrow !
