log and a larger turbo will help a lot, unless you want to spend the money on an equal length. I'd like to see a pic of how you have things set up under the hood as well, as far as your plumbing.

using a bigger turbo does not solve my problem i think, i first want to have the same spool and the same torque like my DET with the same turbo and manifold setup. After that i will upgrade the turbo with a better manifold.

There is an australian guy with an interresting RWD VET built that reaches full boost@3000 RPM with a 3076 .64 and 2.2 liter. With 2.0 liter he should reach full boost@3300RPM. Thats my goal, i want this motor. Super spool and 500hp Topend.....wonderful

here is that built:

and here is my engine bay:

yeah the difference is longer intake runners and 20v cams. Both will affect spool and torque. The low lobes on the 20vs are very good. Do you have vet cams in now? or 20ve's still?

i have VETs in now, do you think the 20V would spool better? Why?
Do you know people using 20v cams on turbo?

But this australian built uses the same runner length i think, its just a custom plenum mounted on the stock runners. Same i with me, just a custom plenum mounted on the stock runners.

Nah its not the same, He has very long bellmouths inside that plenum. Thats why the camber looks soo big.

20v's are pretty good with turbo cars, However going from 20ve's to vet's should give you better spool and midrange. So if they didn't something else might be wrong. I know of plenty of people that have gone from standard to short runner plenums on dets and gained nothing up top and lost a heep of midrange

Heat wrap your hot pipe from your turbo, you are heating the fresh incoming air somewhat. This should help but I still feel that you need a bigger turbo. Your filter doesn't draw nice cool air there either stuck behind the headlight.

Show us a compressor map for your turbo. There may be people doing it with that turbo but there are other turbos out there that will spool just as fast and are capable of just as much or more power at lower boost.

exactly, the design of a good plenum does not only follow simpel rules, its a product of lots of experience and very often a product of complex simulation calculations.
One example is the original RWD greddy intake plenum in comparison to the ebay-copy. It looks really the same but works far worse.

here is my compressor map, i use the small GT2871 .64, this is one of the most harmonic 2 liter turbos, it runs well on audis, nissans, mitsus. 15psi@2800rpm on my DET!!!

Aaah, you are right, i can see it barely on one photo when the TB is held open. Wuuuh, i want that intake plenum...

today i tried the quartermile with my VE. Unfortunately on only 8psi because i sold my Boost Controler some days before and the new one is not installed yet.
the dyno showed 277flwhp some weeks before with that setup:
0-62mph: 6,2 seconds
1/4 mile: 14,3 seconds@104mph (166km/h)

Start was not perfect but quite good.

that was all right for such low boost , what tyres you used? vids?

normal summer tires (235-45-17), i will make an onboard-vid today, the engine feels like a 3 liter NA, very unspectecular. 8psi are boooooring.
