I had this issue too. There are definitely two different shape hoses and one works better than the other. Sorry I can't be more help.
Also 91-93 Honda Accord intake fits nicely ~$30 on eBay. I ended up fabbing my own in the end.

this is what I did. I just added a port for the bov recirculation fitting. I also trimmed about 2" off the length to gain some clearance for the filter.
I got it at napa, don't know the part number but the gu who sold it to me had a turbo b14, so he knew which hose to get. Unfortunately he doesn't work there anymore...

Got the slim fans in this weekend. Also, flipped that radiator hose around. Flipping the hose around opened up quite a bit of clearance. No reason for me to get a different hose now
