Lower Radiator Hose? Hitting Intake Pipe
Hey,

I'm sure quite a few of you have ran into this issue. I'm running pull-through and the intake pipe going into the compressor side of the turbo is putting pressure on the lower radiator hose because the lower radiator hose is in the way of the pipe. Anyone have any suggestions for a new hose or ideas so it fully clears the intake pipe?

Thanks,
-G

Use a longer intake pipe. I ran mine between the rad hose and the transmission. Its a 2.5" pipe.

I'd rather find a different radiator hose. Changing/modifying intake pipe would be much more of a hassle.

You could make some out of some small pipe,or pick up something like this http://http://www.summitracing.com/search/Brand/Summit-Racing/Product-Line/Summit-Racing-Stainless-Steel-Flexible-Hoses/?autoview=SKU&Ns=Price|Asc . The other option is if you only need it slightly longer or shorter is to just cut it, or cut some other hose and add an coupler pipe. One that both hoses slide over, they are all over for cheap.

I had the same problem. I flipped the radiator hose upside down and it cleared better (not completely). So far I've left it like that.

I slid the sleeve that was on the radiator hose already over to act as a buffer. This was on a p11 so I'm not sure if other chassis used this same sleeve or not.

I had the exact same problem on my 91. Tried flipping the hose, and that worked a little better. So I walked over to my 93 to look at the hose, and lo and behold, it was different...So I pulled that one off, put it on the 91, and it worked like a charm. I will need to look for the part number. But you can see from the pictures, they are very different. I still trimmed about 1/4" off of the lower part of the hose to slide it forward. But as you can see, a lot more room.

OLD HOSE

That "new hose" is not an OEM piece. Looks like an AutoZone special.

looks like it will collapse at any minute too.

It looks potentially kinked in the picture, but it is not, its just the angle of the shot. I have never had any problems with aftermarket radiator hoses. We frequently purchase third party hoses for customer vehicles that have no issues. The quality appears to be on par with the other hose. Plus, the autozone hose lasted many years on my other b13.
