Its all about crankshaft harmonics that determines how high you could technically rev. Id say throw it on the dyno and figure of where you make peak tq and peak hp. Then make the rev limit so when you shift your rpm falls right back to where you make peak tq so there is no loss in power between shifts so you stay in your power band.

On stock S&R i wouldnt rev a VE passed 8.5K
I've been following his build/car for a Loooooong time. His build can take 9500rpm no problem.
I agree though that it should be put on a dyno. Then a shift light/aftermarket tach is in order. I know when I take mine to 8500, the tach reads beyond 9000rpm.
