How far you guys think I shoud rev this beast to? 8500rpm? 9000rpm?

Give me your thoughts and opinions.

if it were me id go 8500, keep it a little safer cause honestly 9k is high! this is my oppinion/educated guess since im not in the vvl world but i always play it safe. besides, would there be that much of a power diff. between 8.5k and 9k..?

I'm not sure. I don't think there is. Honestly I bet I would see power start dropping off a bit after 8K, but I haven't dynod it yet.

Revving to 8300rpm

1st 40mph
2nd 70mph
3rd 110mph

If I rev to 9K I could finish the 1/4 in 3rd gear!

Meh. 8500 is weaksauce. I have a lowport DE head and rev mine to 8500. That's with BC STG3 cams, springs, and retainers. IF I can rev to 8500, surely a VE can rev to 9K.

Get the dyno first and that will tell you where to rev, let alone you want to fall back in the rpms that make the most power when racing.

That would be crazy to rev to 9k. I mean, I'll do it if the car still makes power and doesn't ESPLOAD.

I wonder if it makes power up there.

I doubt it. lol.

Yikes. At 9K piston speeds are over 5000fpm.

Get a shift light because the tach will show 9k but it won't really be 9k.
