Thread: 2.25" vs 2.5" vs 3.0" exhaust piping

I realize bigger is better but exactly how much hp difference does the bigger exhaust piping make?

Turbo is a bluebird t25 @7psi. What are the differences in hp going from
1. 2.25" to 2.5"
2. 2.5" to 3"
3. 2.25" to 3"

I currently have 2.25" mandrel bends from the catback and just wanted a better idea on exactly how much hp going to 2.5" will make. If it's a small difference I think I can wait and just go to 3" since it's just going to be a waste of money ditching my good 2.25" piping for 10hp (guesstimate)

Go 3" dont mess around with baby piping, it will slow you down. If you want to keep your 2.25" piping, get a cutout at the downpipe and run the rest of the exhaust. Trust me, once you let that thing really flow with 3" pipes, you'll know you made the right choice.

I currently have 3" turbo back setup. With a good resonator and muffler, it sounds real nice. BUT, I am tired of the sound for daily driving. So I am actually going with what 95b14's suggested. I am basically going to go to a cutout setup on a near stock exhaust. That way, I have the quiet most of the day, and the power/sound when I want it. But if you dont mind the aggressive sound, just go 3" and dont look back. If you are interested in my setup, let me know

I am actually looking for a quiet exhaust LOL. I daily drive my car and the loud exhaust isn't going to cut it for me. Just wondering how much power I would be missing out if I kept my 2.25" instead of getting a 2.5" exhaust. Depending on how big that number is it may or may not sway me toward going bigger.

I think you'll be fine with a 2.5" with that setup for a daily driver. The gains between 2.5 and 3 won't be to noticeable with your setup.

??? Your ass dyno needs to be re-calibrated. Its very noticeable.
