Cosworth makes some great parts as well as power enterprise, as far as headstuds aebs, cosworth, golden eagles . Believe it or not the stock vet headgasket is flawless but thats my opinion.

As far as your choice for stand alone aem is a decent unit it is way better than the stock nissan ecu going with the aem is an automatic gain in HP. Idk if the gen 2 aems are any better but the first version was plagued with problems, aem couldnt quite get the nissans optical sensor right plus numerous driver failures. With all the bads being said its really hard to beat what aem is offering. If yiu wanted better than what aem is offering you would have to look at autronics SM4 and motecs M series $$$.. The haltech platinum is also a very nice unit but not as popular as the latter. In the end it is all up to what your tuner is comfortable with. I suggest you speak directly with your tuner to decide what he is comfortable with and what he thinks is the best, after all hes going to be the one to make or break you or your motor

its good to know you and i both agree the cometic is up to the task.

why did you decide on aebs head studs ?

johnny your right, i was honestly hesitant to spend the dough, but when you look at other people and what there are running (those who are making big numbers) standalone is were its at. response like you spoke about is very very important to me. just as important as over all power in my book
.
benito, i dont hesitate, i live my life like i drive my car, full throttle all the time. as soon as the parts are in, the motor will be assembeled, broken in and then get a final tune. ordered some more paint to touch up the engine bay. got some cans of break dust cleaner and some simple green to clean up some parts etc.

looking to a first week of july for it being done and running.

pics will be up shortly.

You better have that thing done for July 10th! Your going in the right direction, don't worry about what tell you I didn't and I think I did alright. Just make sure my motor stays in my car why it's there lol

That's what I like most about your build. You're just fukkin doin it. Pics would be cool.

Motors run stronger when they are built and run in right away.

I go the AEBS studs before the new ARP studs came out. I have not had any experience with the new ARP studs but, I did with the older ones. We streched two sets. So when the opportunity to get the AEBS studs came up I jumped on them quick.

No $150 ECU will make 400whp on a GT2871r. It might with a tubular manifold and a nice sheet metal Intake manifold. But then you couldve made 430-450 with a stand alone.

Check out my Dyno thread here for my car if you can find it. I realized first hand why a stand alone is so much better then just a chipped ECU. I pretty much found the limits of the setup with my car and then realized that I would need either A: More boost to hit my 400whp goal, OR, B: something that will let me touch timing and up it in the spots where its needs to be upped. Option A would require race gas, meth injections, or something to keep the pistons cool and avoid detonating. Option B would cost about $1000. But then I can touch EVERYTHING going on with the engine and tune it to exactly where it needs to be. Not around about where it needs to be. My A/F's were perfectly on point. But to prove to myself that the timing needed to be touched. I upped the timing without putting the car in timing mode (the ECU will eventually correct it) on the dyno and made 20more WHP with 1lbs LESS boost. This was without even knowing for sure what the timing marks on my pulley were. Now if I had upped the base timing the correct way (im pretty sure we upped it from about 12deg to about 15-16degs) Id be willing to bet I couldve made 375whp or something around that. But Id still be down about 25whp for what my turbo shuld be doing at 20psi.

Not to mention, the fact that with a stand alone you can run the MOST timing possible at every RPM to make the most power at every RPM. Now im not saying the SAFC2/Chipped ECU isnt good for a set it and forget it setup. But to get the MOST out of a specific turbo...one chosen for its good power band...your gonna need to be able to do more then just play with the A/F's. The other half is that you HAVE to play with the timing. Hell even the DE guys are getting 5-8whp from just bumping the base timing up. Imagine if you could optimise the whole map! Its not just about peak power. Having the ability to tune your mid and low range timing is where the good stuff lies.

To have a simple setup is one thing. But to have a setup thats fully tuned in everyway...you will walk guys with the same/ bigger turbo setups all day long.

i don't see why every one doubts he will hit 400 with a 2871r. i hit 365 on a bone stock det on a JWT ecu. i know when i went with s4's a split dp and exhaust cut out it was more like 400 on that jwt ecu. i was easily able to spin the tires on 20psi boost in 4th gear at 4-5k on my Azenis 205 50 15's when i would mash the gas.
you guys probably laugh at me since i run an AEM on my ve N/A. I can tell you one thing tho after messing with a calum ecu for 4 years on my turbo then on 3 months on the ve that it never ran nearly as good in all conditions as the EMS does PERIOD. i used tuner pro and nistune for tunning software i have a wide band etc. Soon as i got over the small bumps with some wiring and learning new software i will never go back to a stock/chipped ecu.

side note i think dre has seen 420 whp on rwd 240's.

I think after Calum closed his doors alot of people will be considering standalone. Myself included Calum is a great option but I think AEM may be in the near future if I cannot secure a V2 Realtime.

you can see the 12.50 86x86 ve in the corner !

the boys from mass came down. thats mikes 660whp se-r under my nx .

here you can see the broken ring land and the part of the piston that melted.

we all know what a bare block looks like so ill spare ya.
