you may want to remove the intake manifold for extra room.

The method cliff mentioned seems best, the plyers may tear up the bolt making it hard to get out, hopefully it backs out with ease....

I've always tackled this one of two ways.

If I have very little threads sticking out, I use the method Cliff described. But I have an angled drill and extractor set that works wonders too.

Or, if I have plenty of thread, I grind/file flat spots on opposing sides of the bolt/stud. That keeps the vise grips or crescent something to lock onto and keeps them from slipping. Just make sure to soak the broken bolt with plenty of penetrating oil....or pb blaster will work too.

If there are enough threads, put two nuts on the stud, tighten them together, then put a wrench on the nut closest to the head and unscrew the stud. If the nuts end up ining up well enough, you can use a deep socket over both nuts.
