snapped chain tensioner stud, advice help
well, like it says i snapped the lower tensioner stud. that i could possible get away with it as nieve as i can be, but when i ran the motor oil was streaming from that area . i have replacement studs but i wanna know of some methods to taking the snapped stud out with the motor in the car cause i know it can be done. dont care it its a high-tech method or old school. plus ive be prepping the motor for the past week or so, just dropped it in and got it all together and after all the i refuse to pull it back out for this....thanks in advance!

damn that stud is pain to get to. I am not sure you can remove it with out taking the head off the block.

Not an easy task, that's for sure.

Removal of the oil filter housing assembly and power steering pump and brackets will allow for plenty of room in order to drill it out, with a right angle drill.

Good luck to you.

Remove the oil filter housing and you can get some needle nose vise grips on it?

Be careful not to chew it up to the point that you can't grab it, though.

Another option is to cut a slot into it (if you can get a dremel with a cut off wheel in there), and then use a screwdriver to back it out.

thats lucky. removed the oil filter housing use vise grips, liquid wrench and some heat and it should back out.

its like pb blaster. just a lubricant to help get the stud out if there is dirt and debris.

ooo...ok. theres enough stud sticking out to vise it. this will be a great way to break in my new snap on grips!
