Cometic and ARP's. They don't seem to like 20psi of boost.

You never pushed over 15psi. I daily drive mine at 19psi+ of boost

So is it safe to say the problem is the studs?

I have a Cometic gasket and AEBS studs. My motor is 86.5 so no VET gasket for me.

Rob, you can use the vet metal headgasket with a 86.5mm bore. Andreas measured the inner bore of the gasket and it was 86.5mm.

Might as well do the VE head, since you'll be pulling the old one off anyway.

would still need to pull the motor out to drill for the oil feed to the ve head and to block off the stock det feed.

That's odd.. I've never lifted a SR head.. even at 660+whp, and that was using Cometic with ARP 2000's. I always worried about pulling the threads out of the block, before I worried about the studs stretching.

I was planning to use the ARP's for my build. Think I'll switch to the GE's + VE gasket after reading about this. Sorry to hear about it Cli...I mean Tek...I mean Cliff.

I'm using a VE metal h/g and ARP's, 21+ psi and no signs of lifting...
