There's so many things beside hp that will break a tranny. I see some of the videos you younger guys post up and I just shake my head. Full throttle clutch dumps and shifts, blipless downshifts...geez, what do you expect from a tranny you can lift with one arm?

Inside of a '04 Spec V gearbox:

The p12 has the area for the ODB teeth sensor thing, but you have to tap it like you would a b13 BH.

And if anyone cares (shameless plug), I have a '03 spec tranny for sale along with a 4.133 final and main shaft (same as '03+ spec final) if you wanted to go with an '02 spec tranny and get a diffrent ratio out fo it ('02 spec has a 4.428 final).

I've abused the Spec V and Maxima trans for years.. I have NEVER broken one. I've track tested and had many customers beat the hell out of theirs for years on end, on slicks.. Up to about 400whp/350wtq, I've never seen a failure. I have seen others break gearboxes, but, those were associated with massive wheel hop. If you keep wheel hop in check, then, you won't have any problems.. Hell, if a turbocharged VQ35 doesn't break it, in a heavier car, then, you guys sure as hell won't do it with a SR.

We will see how it holds up to 750whp and 500wtq.

I think it will with some heavy weight gear oil in it. Im gonna be using 85w140 valvoline gear oil in mine.

Ive had good sucess with it soo far. its not quite as thick as the shockproof but it definetly has a better viscosity and still has plenty of cusion.

Just looking at the pics you can see the size of the gears in comparison to the b15/p11. They are alot wider and very very thick teeth. Massive in comparison.

Some other things to consider is the input shaft is massive in comparison, the axles both in the trans and at the hubs are larger. The axles themselves are larger as well. All benifits from the swap from my perspective.

Your car passes emissions with 400+ HP?? I was under the impression that some people had a hard time passing with just S4's on a DE.

No problems with my p11 setup so far. 29+ psi for sometime now too.

No CEL means I pass. Underhood I keep things a little untidy to keep people from looking too hard for other emissions equipment that doesn't actually function. AKA EGR. There is a method to the madness.

how much was he making to the wheels?

I am about about to rebuild my bottom end and put on a 60-1 that i picked up from Jerry(Scrildo)

How did he drive, I heard that the tranny life can be extended by not slamming into gears, especially 3rd, but this is 4th he lost?

Don't forget that the turbo needs a rebuild. Do not try and run it like that!!!!!!
