Thread: compression test

i did a compression test on my sr20de-t yesterday. all cylinders read
no1 cyl= 150 lbs
no2 cly= 155 lbs
no3 cly= 155 lbs
no4 cly=150 lbs
is this good reading?

i did that test because oils started blowin back from the valve pan cover

My regular u.s. motor did 165 on all cylinder so if you have a lower compressions turbo motor that should be fine.

is the a det or a de + t ?

i believe mine read 185 across all four last time i checked. nthats a jdm de with a turbo strapped to it.

When I did compression checks on my US sr20de I got 160-165 on all four cylinders. Since you wrote DE-T, I can only assume that it is a stock DE with a turbo added and if there was no internal work done, those numbers are slightly low but at least they are consistent.

Consistency is more important than the actual numbers (unless they are really low).
I'd say you're fine.

was this hot or cold. Looks like you did not hold the throttle open. All the numbers are close so I don't think you have a issue other than the numbers being low. sr20de 9:5:1 motor is 178psi stock.

it seems like i did the test the wrong way. i remove the 4 plugs from the cylinder and test each cylinder.

no it a de motor i turbo.

My de read 185 and it has 180k, something definantly isnt right with some of these numbers. regardless, 155 with boost is fine. if im not mistaken a stock det is 165.
