lol redline is good stuff but it is time consuming to put in. I can replace my clutch disc for $100.00.

I did a 15psi pull and found after reading the plugs that there seemed to be some small amount of detonation, so I retarded the timing by 1* or so to be on the safe side. Fuel pressure is at 45psi with vacuum, so that should be in the mid 11s on AFRs.

I ran it at the track yesterday. Ran 14.1 @ 111mph. 2.6 60' on the all-seasons. The 1/8 mph was 82mph so it shows the top end really coming on strong. I feel like this car could do very low 12s on pump gas with some drag radials or slicks. I am not a very good drag racer, but the limit of these all-season tires made it very difficult to pull a decent 60' without the clutch wanting to grab. I am finally starting to feel the aggressive nature of this sintered iron. The clutch howls when slipped, is extremely grabby, but under power still performs great.

Anyway, I had fun. Raced an E55? mercedes. I dunno, there is video somewhere. He ran 13.2 at 109. He was surprised to see the sentra trap higher, even though he left me in the dust off the line. I only got two runs, they were nearly identical. I really would like to get the car dialed in and get into the low 13 range on street tires, but it is looking to be pretty difficult with this combination of aggressive clutch and slippery tires.

Very nice man, Your trap speed is good for low 12's as is with slicks. Just be careful with that detonation. I dont know why your having soo many issues with detonation. Im beginning to wonder if its an issue with the ve heads having a smaller combustion chamber causing heat issues. I know your turbo and manifold isnt causing heat issues since you have that larger turbine and twin scroll mani.

I was running 19-20psi daily on 91 octane gas and had no problems punching it 1st-4th gear during 118* summer heat on the way back from work. And doing punches to my 8k rev limiter in 5th in the hot evenings.

When i go to the strip i always run 110 or c16 race fuel. No questions. I dont get what everyone's fascination of running pump gas is. They make race fuel for a reason and the main one being running at the track. Why not just run race fuel, go to the track, run your maximum boost, and keep an eye on things.

If your a/f ratio is showing good i dont know why you would be detonating. I would run 15 deg base timing and wot a/f of 11.3-11.7:1 Zero issues of detonation, not even a spec.

you did pretty good considering last night, you should be able to pull mid 12's with that kind of trap, and you could also be losing some speed with spinning and not hooking

The only way I have of checking for detonation is by reading the plugs. And the plugs looked great, but I did see an extremely small spot on one of the ceramics so I would rather be safe. I could make XXXwhp on 15psi of boost, but if the motor isn't going to last it is pointless.

I am pretty sure with 100 octane the car will make 400whp on 15psi.

But even running more boost, I highly doubt the time would be any better. I am going to buy slicks in two weeks and take it out again on 100 octane and 20psi. Should run 11s if the clutch holds.

thats what im saying is why risk it. A couple of these last big builds they all go on talking about how they want to make 500whp on pump gas. They are not realizing how much 500whp is for a 2L 4cyl engine and what it can do to it if even the slightest thing goes wrong.

My thing is they made high octane race fuels for this very reason, to ward detonation for high hp or compression engines. Why not use it. Find your safe/fun boost level for everyday street use and stick with it there and then only up it with race fuel. No questions asked. My safe/comfortable/fun boost level was 20psi on 91, At that level i made 406whp. I never went any more psi without straight race gas being in the tank. And never had a problem.

I dont know why you would be having detonation issues on only 15psi though. Again its weird. Maybe timing issue like you said. Or maybe not even a real issue at all but more of a worry.

Im sure everything will come together but yeah you definetly need to pick up some slicks man. It was almost pointless to go run without them. haha

haha. Yea. I agree with you 100% on the detonation issue. I have no idea why I would detonate. When I had the knock light hooked up it didn't show any detonation until 21psi (except when hitting the rev limiter) But I want to keep this motor safe. Until I have a way of monitoring knock, I'm gonna keep the timing backed off and power levels at 350whp.

I just finished puttin in a new stereo since my old one took a poo. Got a cheapo kenwood mp342u or something like that. For $100 I can't complain. Sounds great!

What type and heat range are your spark plugs?
