A fun Day - Need clutch advice
So 3 weeks ago I installed my gt2860rs and asp manifold.... day from hell. So after I got everything back together and ran 9-10 psi for like 5hrs to street tune it, I had to go back to school. Today I landed at 1:30pm home for 3, I thought it would be fun to put the boost up and see what it could do. I turned the MBC and it was 12psi.... after a few pulls and tuning all was well. Then I was cursing and decided to go wot and I felt the car do something different. I was like wtf but no noise just like the clutch might have slipped. I took her easy and one stop light before my house the pedal was not stiff anymore, and it was hard to change gears... so I got her home and in my driveway I did the clutch test.

The test from my friend who is a certified tech was to put it in 5th and she should stall out right away. SO I did that and I had the clutch like 80%out before she started to do anything..... So I figure my clutch is shot or the slave cylinder has internal leak…? The reason for the slave cylinder is because I didn’t smell any burnt clutch.

My question is what u would recommend for a clutch:

act - NX9-XTG6
EXEDY Stage 2 Cerametallic Clutch Kit
spec - stage 3+
competition clutch - stage 4 Strip Series 1620 Clutch Kit
clutch net - yellow addition (with 6puck)
JGY-STREET-se-r Sprung 6 puck disk

I plan to do fair bit if drag and lapping and I will be boosting 15psi - hoping to make 300+whp on my sr20ve-t

thanks for the help guys

cheers

Rob

What pressure plate are you using? I would call greg at g-spec and order up a jwt 2 sided metal disk. I know a few people with the same turbo as you running the same disk with no issue's.

The JWT flywheel is really good. And can hold up to a ton of torque with the right disk. I have the geometry modified on my pp and with sintered iron I've held 400wtq.

clutch masters, act, and jwt. take your pick I have run all three and I am running act with the current turbo car and will be running it with my bigger setup. If I were to change I would go clutch masters.

I am running the ACT Xteme PP w/ street disk, and it works great. Running GTiR T28 @ 14 lbs, no signs of slipping at all, and still very streetable.

My ACT extreme felt like a f@cking leg press, which is why I went with CM. plus they can hold big power, and even more with a sintered iron disc.. i stuck with a 4-puck though.
