On a street car you might be over cooling. I would recommend a t-stat on a street driven car but given you are in Cali. it is probably a non-issue. An oil temp gauge is a good idea though, take the reading from the pan.

It's not impossible but I would not think you are overcooling the oil in your case but a gauge will tell you that for sure.

i was setting up the car to race it, but i have now moved to ct and the air
temps out here are crazy compaired to cali. i was working with 75 deg tops out in cali and i have had it hit over 100 deg in ct since i moved out here.
i just removed it to see if it has anything to do with my issue of having
rod knock occur. if i decide to race the car like i was planning, i will put it
back on and get a temp sensor to go with it.

Ah damn what car was it I saw on MotoIQ that had that BAT oil cooler installed that was so trick, I tried searching for the parts but it looked super custom. I assume it had a thermostat installed. Do you know which car I am talking about? Seems you are familiar with it possibly?

The dog II uses a Setrab oil cooler, I believe it is a 19 row. The location and custom ducting are very trick. Ducting GREATLY improves efficiency on oil coolers (or any heat exchanger for that matter).

You could easily piece together this same kit with the components that BAT offers. I just spoke with Eric today to order a few more items for the oil cooler setup I am working on.
