Woke up to gear oil...
All over my driveway =\

looks like I pretty much lost most of it last night, but I didn't beat it up all day.

can't really tell, but it looks like it was leaking from inside the bellhousing area. I put new seals in when we tossed it in the car, so I'm hoping it's something stupid like the drain bolt backing off or something else.

What trans are you running Cliff? Could always just be an excuse to upgrade...

ummm axle seal or cracked case. One of the two. I doubt its coming from the input shaft seal. I have yet to ever see an input shaft seal on an sr20 trans leak. If you lost a lot of it then axle seal, if you lost even more then prob a cracked case.

Figured it out

Both seals are new, just FYI.

At first I was afraid that it was the case itself, since we saw a lot of jb weld on the inside (bellhousing area), when we were putting the trans in.

Turns out, after dropping the case again to tap out some snapped bolts, that we didn't re-fasten/tighten the PS axle carrier bracket to the axle :o

So the axle worked itself loose enough to dump a couple quarts all over my driveway from last night until this morning. Strange it only did it over last night, since we did the tranny stuff like a week ago and it JUST now started leaking.

Ah well, at least it wasn't anything major.

Lesson learned? Stop being so damn complacent when working on my own car. Joel and I will both admittedly tell you that we're so used to being under the hood of our cars, that we don't tend to double/triple check our own work anymore. This was a wake-up call, I guess you could say.

Funny thing about it is that I'm SOOOO tedious when it comes to working on other people's builds. Alex can vouch for that

Cliff was the jb weld around the pass axle seal? If so it there to reinforce that area. It works pretty well if you don't feel like welding the case.
