DET Oil Leak
My avenir motor is leaking oil from around the pan. I couldn't find the proper gasket to fot the pan, so I used form-a-gasket and it still leaks. I can't find the gasket I need anywhere... Isn't the Avenir oil pan a 2 piece? Something about the AWD transmission? I've been thinking about using a regular DE oil pan but I'm unsure whether or not it'll fit. Anyone know? Searched for a while now with no luck. Thanks for your help.

If you removed the oil pan improperly, aka screw driver, you have permanently damaged the oil pan and it will never seal right. You can get a new one from Greg V.

I used silicon RTV, red or gray will do.

Moving this to turbo section because it deals with a DET.

Ultra black RTV is on it now. Do I need to take that down to red or gray? So the one piece US oil pan will not work?

ultra black is not a good choice for synthetic. The Right Stuff is the only permatex good for synth oil other than the ultra grey.

The old red stuff is from the '50s. The ultra grey is the best all around, but The Right Stuff doesn't have the cure time and works great.

I would make sure your oil sending unit isn't leaking. It will look like it is coming from the pan.

So if it comes down to not being able to use a one piece oil pan I'm planning on using "The Right Stuff" to seal it. Still, I've found no information on taking out the two piece oil pan completely. Isn't the two piece the same one that comes in the NX?

I take it no one knows if I can swap to a one piece pan or not?

My avenir motor has a single 1 piece oil pan. I used toyota engine sealant on it, because that's where I was working.
