Thread: How did you feel about your DET after your S4 install?

Ok So I have a set of fresh S4's sitting in front of me. I wanna throw them in. But it just feels like its gonna give me more wheel spin then I have already. I know they are good for like 30-40whp in some spots and thats great. But did you like your power band more or less with the cams Preferably S4's...im just trying to see cause honestly the car is fast enough right now for what it is. I just dont wanna throw them in and then regret it. My Turbo has a good ammount of low end since its only midsized. But did you guys with mid size turbos regret putting in the cams because the power band shifted? I guess what Im really looking for here is Storys about driving your car after the S4 install. Impressions and all that good stuff I may put mine in tom night if im not too lazy.

I say go for it. On any turbo t28 or larger they make a huge difference. They should hold a little higher in the rpm's and technically you could run less boost and make the same power which would be easier on the engine, turbo etc. I do have to say that I don't know anyone that has regretted it. Your turbo will spool about the same and the power band will just be extended with a larger top end. If you don't like it, take them back out. If you are running 22 lbs I would run 20 lbs and you will still make more power than you are now. It is your call, get a few more opinions first or just try it yourself but I really doubt you will be dissapointed. Good luck, I am curious to see what the before and after numbers are. What is your redline set at now?

my power band shifted up with the s4's. It did not cause any more wheel spin than I had before. It just moved the wheel spin in third gear from the bottom to the top.

Cam swaps are only slightly harder and more time consuming than spark plug changes. Put them in. If you don't like it, swap them out again.

Id say go for it, with my T28 gti-r turbo it was good up to the rev limiter @7500..
now with the larger turbo i havnt taken it to the dyno but it pulls hard on top, from 5500rpm

when i put the s4's in my turbo car, it was the single best mod i had done. the car just came alive and pulled like a banshee till redline.

I wouldnt go that far! Takes 5 minutes to swap plugs and gap them! Im gonna throw them in! Ive been thinking about it and the car is worthless in first and second anyway. Might as well make third fourth and fifth pull even harder. I need some new DR's!

I run S4's with my T25 and it doesnt run out of breath like it would with stock cams. Plus i probably gained about 30whp+ with S4's. Traction is always going to be a problem no matter what the situation is.

^This applies for N/A as well. After 6k, my car just didn't feel the same as my old setup. I thought the ASP header alone made a difference, but the power shortage was noticeable after driving it a while. I put the BC2's in my car this past weekend and it pulls like a bull from 6000k-7500k.
