I bought it from gspec..Even greg was surprised this happened so soon. Im going to stick with ACT for now to see if they can give me another one and if that fails ill just have to go with a different disk. But i agree buying clutches for our fwd sr20's are a hit or miss.
in the mean time im getting my bigger intercooler piping and throwing on a manual steering rack. ill keep you guys updated

Honestly you never know when they are making the parts if they cool too quickly after being made or if there is any inconsistency this can effect the parts. When any product is mass produced there are some defective products. GL I'm sure ACT will honor this.

yeah this is kinda a pointless argument. Ive used act clutches for 5 years on my se-r's and never had any problems like this. It could have been a bad machining job on the disk or something wasnt right on your trans, either no dowel pins to align the trans properly or bad input shaft bearing.

Lots of variables. Its gonna happen with any disks if machined badly for some reason. My competition twin did this and it covers twice as much area on the input shaft as the normal disks. You have to realize our 18 spline input shafts are tiny in comparison to other higher hp cars. So when you turbo our cars its putting that much more stress on it.

Think of it this way. Take a torx head bolt same grades one taking a very small torx and the other a larger. its going to take more torque to strip out the larger one than the smaller one. No matter how tight fitting it is just due to the size and area its gonna break. And just like a torx bit unless absolutely perfectly machined there is gonna be some small play between the disk and input shaft.

Take a new disk, brand new, and put it on your input shaft before putting it on and i can bet you there is at least a noticable amount of play and wobble room between them.

damn sucks, I have always ran act's on my car and never had any faults other than slipping for the reasons that I exceeded there tq range. Like the otheres mentioned above ,when you get the new clutch slide it on the output shafts and check for any play on it, it could be the cause. GL.

Damn thats messed up bro... ACT should give you a new disc...
Post up whatever response you got from ACT...
I recently bought a disc just like that, unsprung 6 puck race disc but havent installed it yet, Im getting worried now...

What you guys think about break in... I read somewhere in the ACT page I think it was that their race clutchs like that disc does not need braking in... what you guys think about that...?

yeah I saw that. I still plan on a 200 mile break in period.

i did the exact same thing to my ACT 6-puck unsprung. they would not warranty it either.
I then bought a SPEC and blew that apart, now i am on my JGY clutch and it has been holding strong for years... and i hate JGY.

It definately seems to be hit or miss with the manufacturers.

My sprung 6 puck is also from jgy. I bought it years ago when they were having their clutches made at clutch specialties or just buying them from clutch specialties and re branding them, one of the 2. has been holding up great for quite a few years now.

I do have the dowel pins on the motor to align the trans right. How would the trans be aligned wrong? wouldn't the starter not bolt on right?

And i will check if there is any wobble with the new disk on the shaft. and if there is ...how much is to much or should it wobble at all?
