PSI got me thinking.
At what PSI ( i.e 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 etc. ) can you compare what mods are equal.


For example is 6 PSI comparable to cams,header,ecu,exhaust,weight reduction etc?


Is 10 PSI comparable to say a small block V8? I know they're apples n oranges but at what point would one be able to compare the power output of a certain type of turbo set up to a engine size/displacement setup?


Reason why i ask is because i dropped my boost to 6 psi ( for better MPG and because i like RPM's ) to soften the blow to my stock clutch ( until i get my ACT setup ) , so i noticed that i now am able to chirp 2-3rd gear, kinda like my old setup ( header,exhaust , no cat, advanced timing etc ) .


Very weird but that thought jumped into my head.

i would say that its very hard to compare naturally aspired mods to turbo even turbo with low psi and the reason being is the responce of the turbo isnt like the responce of naturally aspired mods.

and the power band esp given different turbos, they can make much more torque at much lower rpm than naturally mods can

I would do both.
For example gt28rs on 20lbs cams,ecu,exhaust,weight reduction etc.
Plus more like a little bit of head work and some pistons and rods, hmm that might be comparable to what a small block v8?
Well thats what I would do...just need a new turbo and an engine rebuild

Yeah , it's very difficult to compare N/A mods to turbo mods just because there is higher potential with turbo mods.


BUT can a N/A SR with full bolt ons, ECU, etc be comparable to minimal boosted applications? ( i.e cams,exhaust,ecu,weight reduction,header ,exhaust, slicks ) compared to T25 at low boost.

an DE n/a with full bolt ons is good for what 150hp? and a 6-8 PSi T25 is good for 200ish Hp. you do the math

WTF?? I WAS boosting 8 psi on a T25 until i decided to lower boost to " save " my OEM Exedy replacement clutch. I thought my 8 psi was like 180 HP tops, thats some news to me .....


I guess my 6 psi is more like 180 HP. WOW, surprise to me , i hope i can make a dyno run between now and when i replace my clutch.

stock is 8psi and rated at 210hp
