Don't give up coheed.Come back stronger.
Racegas helps to.....

24psi still gonna be ok for 100 octane? Or you guys think I will need q16/c16 for that?

Maybe I will invest in a water injection setup for high boost.

at 9:1 I would not go over 18-20psi on pump gas. Adding water/meth will allow you to run plenty of boost with out race gas.

I didnt go anything over 19 psi on mine. Anything over and it was straight C16 in the tank. And that was fine to over 30psi. Pistons and everything had absolutely no sign of any detonation at all. So i know my tune on the Calum ecu was awesome.

Come back stronger and better. Im sure there will be much to look foward from your next build.

Did you put the pistons in the right way? I know on the stock units there's a mark that shows what direction faces the front of the motor.

Did you see the pics? Yes, the pistons were in correctly. I'm not a complete noob lol.

The pics show perfectly that the squirters hit the cutout. The cutout was just put in the wrong place.

$360 for new oil squirters and a new oil pump. That's the only thing I am really frustrated about. I just want to get a new pump and a stock crank pulley to put on there. Hopefully Greg V can help me out with the piston battle. I know it's my fault for the pistons melting, but the oil squirter damage and the pump are caused completely from the pistons. There was no installation error on this build.

BTW if anyone has any questions about how the pistons were installed. Here's a pic.

Correctly installed pistons

Here's the skinny so far.

Looking to get a new oil pump, VE head, sr16 cams, fresh CP pistons, bore the block and see if I can get away with some 86.5mm pistons. Get new oil squirters. Get rid of the JWT rev limiter. Get valve springs. I plan on revving high. 8500 or so.

My new goals... no excessive blowby. 400whp by 15psi, 500whp by 25psi. But I wanna keep my 400lb ft of torque lol.

I gotta talk to greg tomorrow about the piston situation. The breaking oil squirters and oil pump were completely out of my control. Hopefully someone can cut me a break huh?

One more question for you guys?

Whenever I broke a ceramic from a plug, or closed the gap from detonation, it was right immediately after bouncing the rev limiter. I was curious if anyone else has had issues with detonation after hitting the factory fuel cut. This didn't occur to be much of an issue until I hooked up a friends knock light. I was always told the fuel-cut= no fuel to detonate, but the knock light always showed detonation when I hit the limiter. Strange?

I looked into it and there are a few tuning books around that talk about residual fuel left in the intake manifold, or on the valves, that forms a puddle when large volumes of fuel are flowing from the injectors. Perhaps this is an issue?

lmk what you guys think about this info I have gathered. I am getting rid of the fuel-cut limiter, and have since been using an ignition limiter just before fuel-cut. I have not experienced any more detonation. But the damage is already done.

fuel cut rev limiters are the devil...if there is a little fuel left over its very lean when u hit the limiter

I wonder how much the piston squirters would have helped, after all there primary purpose is to cool the piston down.
