Everybody always thinks its about MORE and MORE power with these cars. They think THATS whats gonna make them be able to keep up and they loose sight of what really makes these cars fast. Power to weight. Theres a ton of guys running around with 500whp that will get beat by all motor VE's down the 1/4. Its all about thinking your setup out. Its funny when I see guys with turbos running 14's when guys with VE's are running 12's. Worry about your tire selection, your weight, AND your weight distribution over the front wheels. Then worry about more power. A T25'ed B13 with weight reduction and drag radials is a 12 second car. With enough boost, good tires, and weight reduction you can squeeze an 11 out of one. Its not about the power its about the power band and how well thought out the setup is. People on this forum often loose sight of that.

MOAR POWR!!!

I wanna squeeze 11's out of my car with the ****tiest street tires I can slap on it

Seriously B, you don't NEED boost, and all the issues that come with it. It's high maintenance. I agree with Bes. VE with a 50~75 shot, and you're golden. This will also keep you in check a bit since when the bottle's dry, you're not going to be dogging the **** out of it

bgreen, if this is your daily, stay away from boost. you will get carried away and im sure the rest of us will agree, you will break something, and most likely wont be cheap to fix.

ull have way more fun with a ve for a daily.

but when the weekends come, stay away from the boys with big turbos ! or get a big shot. lol

^Big shots FTW!

The reliability is great from the VE. Basic basic basic VE man. I/H/E and some N1's. You don't want a VE with a baby shot running away from your T25.

listen you dont want a ve with n1's and not shot walking away from your t25 ! it happens, nismonicks old ve did that on a few occasions to a few local guys out here.

**** i want a ve !!

bgree, ve, 16ve pistons, n1 cams and a nice header and youve got the best daily right there.

Meh, I will never be a VE all motor guy. DET and VET's are to much fun. You dont get carried away with boost until you start loosing sight of whats really going on. Hell I know. I was almost the same way Mr. Cliff was lol. Everybody always says that DET's are High maintenence. But how?

Lets compare: With a VE on spray your gonna need a Window swtich, plugs, something to switch the cams, a good tune, and a few trannys maybe ect. With a DET your gonna need a boost controller, good tune, ect ect, oh and a few trannys. Other then that I dont see how one is more reliable then the other. People start blowing **** up when they start building **** and pushing limits. If your Ok with 200whp-450whp on the stock DET block with a good tune then it will be reliable. To many guys on here are gun ho though and have to push the **** out of there cars all the time. Thats why they blow. But what about the guys like me who make GOOD power with simple setups and drive the cars pretty much daily without much fuss. These are the guys who dont break trannys (Ive only broken one and it was 4th in my original 250k mile tranny that was old) and have reliable simple setups.

DET or VE....its all about how you drive it really, that and the tune and how well maintained it is. Both setups are gonna have to be maintained more then a regular car because your pushing the motor more then a regular car. But notice the simple setups almost ALWAYS are the ones that keep running reliably. For example: A Fresh SR20DET(stock!), GT2871r (or comparable), S4 cams all the supporting mods and 20lbs=400whp and a dead reliable car that you didnt have to do much too. Ive run my setup for a looooong while now with the stock block DET and never had probs. Two diff turbo setups, 20+psi ect ect. My motor still running strong. Keep it simple!

Sorry for the late reply. If you'd like to know more take it on over to my build thread. I don't want to clutter bgreen's thread.

If you weren't so reckless I would recommend the gti-r T28 I have there along with some S4's. On a DE your looking at a perfect street sweeper.

Boost is perfect for a daily. It's all about how it's put together and what parts are used.

If not throw a motor together like the UPS car. You personally witnessed the reliability of that thing.

guan guan if I weren't so wreckless? Son it only takes a couple car accidents that had nuttin to do with how much power ur puttin down to retrain ya mind on how to approach things like this...i just don't see how a ve+bottle..can be called that more reliable then a t2871r at 10 psi with no boost controller....you can't die from crack if you got no pipe to smoke it
