car wont crank
If you dont know, I have a 77 z with an sr20 in it. Check it out in members rides.

Anway, the entire harness on the car been built from scratch. The starter has 2 gauge wiring going to it directly from the battery. The battery is in the trunk grounded to a rear strut mount bolt.

Then in the front, I grounded the starter directly to a front strut mount bolt.

My push button start is has power supplied from the battery, and when it is pushed it goes directly to the small smade on the starter.

WHen I attempt to crank the car only, the starter clicks. The battery is weak, but when I do this I have a fully charged jumper pack directly on the battery.

The battery terminals all are all tight.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like it should work. How good are those grounds? You took off the paint, correct?

Have you bench tested the starter with that battery?

check the grounds. I never use the shock towers as main ground points. use the frame rail with the oem bolt that has triangular shaped threads. bench test the starter as ben suggested.

pull a battery from another car and try it. I've used those jump boxes and cables before and had no luck and then swapped in a good battery and mysteriously fired right up. Load tester ftmfw.

If it does the same thing bench test the starter or give it a few good smacks if you don't want to pull it and see if it works. Def. sounds like a loose cable or bad solenoid though.

Hmm. I am going to run a ground directly from the battery to the starter and hopefully it cranks.

I did take the starter to autozone, they tested it and it was inconclusive.

jump the starter straight off the battery to check it.
