Wow that sounds expensive. And i 2nd what therealnighthog said. I could see 400 if the had to do alot of cutting repositioning etc, or if the supplied some of the piping material or mufflers. I havent paid for a shop to weld anything for me in a while.

yeah, kinda bold to come on here and bitch after charging the guy 400 bucks.

You could have bought a ok mig welder and done it yourself and still had the welder after your done.

I wanted it TIG welded. I'm talking about TIG welding prices only. I'm not bashing MBKC(& never mentioned their name except now after their post). They came recommended from another SR20 guy who actually helped w/my build and he attested to their welding quality. I simply wanted to know what others were paying for quality TIG(not MIG) welding from a shop.

I am familiar with Modified by KC, they helped me with my M3. Lucas, you'd be getting some great exhaust work.. they are some of the best at custom fabrication, so your pre-fabbed TIG welding job would be cake for them, and they'd do an excellent no-worries job...

You probably just blew your chances with one of the best shops in the area...

Once again, I never mentioned their name, never said where I was getting it welded. I never bashed their shop or said they were overcharging me. I just wanted some information. Let's stick to the facts. And I know they do good work, that's why I went there. I'll pay for good work, I just have no idea about prices when it comes to exhaust welding. I just wanted some information. Wow, this has been blown all out of proportion and context.

Review my posts (only my posts) in this thread and tell me otherwise.

$400 is quite expensive. Tig welding is an art forum though.

I bought the VRS piping kit as well, and it had to be cut and modified to fit my car, which I just finished up. I think tig welding it is a waste unless you bought stainless flanges, or are bumping the pipe with stainless clamps. I welded my exhaust on, with stainless mig wire for about $85 bucks.

Well well...it seems "someone" who will go unnamed made an account name as modifiedbykc and posted on here to further throw me in to sr20 hell. vqman was in on it as well.

Regardless, it was expensive but it seems they did good work. It was a little dark, but everything looked pretty well put together.
