Some other options to think about....if race fuel is to expensive for you guys and your looking to up the boost try looking at alternative fuels like e85! We are running 30lbs of boost on a 1G with e85 and no knock issues......And it is way cheaper than race gas.....this car is also daily driven, even in the winter and making 468 awhp currently.... And than if you need to really step it up on race day, just throw in some e98 which is better and 4x cheaper than VP import race gas (122 octane) and have some fun!!! Side note though is your going to need to step up your fuel system around 30-40% over what your currently running.... On my sr20 Im running -8 fuel feed line.....twin 255 walboro's, and 1600cc inj... If your looking for 400whp run -8, or maybe even stock lines and around 880cc inj or 1000cc....

The difference is the gt28rs (gt2860rs) has a 60mm wheel hence the 60, and the gt2871r has a 71mm wheel. Both are dual ball bearing its just that the larger wheel allows the 2871 to flow better giving it a higher horsepower rating.

that and the gt2871r will also flow a little more with the larger .86 a/r....but in my own personal expierence i dont feel the gt2871r is laggy at all. even with the .86ar

gt2871r .64 is for a little better spool times
gt2871r .86 is better for top end power

but like i said i donno if its my setup or what but the .86 isnt laggy i really like it would recomend it for anyone looking for more top end power

reading this is really leanin me towards the 3076 and away from my initial 35r that i wanted.. i wanna make 400whp and it be streetable for daily drivin.. i have....
gtir engine w/cp pistons
jwt s3m's (no other head work)
arp head studs
not exactly sure what HG im ordering
rc 720's
z32 maf
jwt rail
jgy 4 puck
2.5"ic piping
soon-jwt ecu (not sure if i should go 3 bar or 4????)
aeromotive afpr
probly love fab equal length mani(unless i find a nice used log mani)

i was wonderin how much boost you think my internals can handle on race day w/some c16 without pushing it TTOOO far.. not tryin to blow it up quick...

let me know what you guys think about me going 3 or 4 bar. think 720's are enough or should i ditch em? and will a log mani be plenty good for 4-450whp?
really appreciate it

you could go as far as running the gt2871r .86ar 76 trim in your power rang,e and it will give you a wide powerband without sacraficing spool times like the larger 3076 might be.

i would say if you run 93 octane and c16 on race day you could easily see those numbers with the 2871r....but if you must go with a 3076 would be a good choice

If you go with say the gt35r and crank it to 25 your could make a nice 500whp or more! But if your goal is only 400whp then its not necessary... so yeah step down to the gt3076 since most likely you will need a t3 flanged turbo for your manifold selection.

Just to get this right, all the 2871r have the 76trim t-wheel, it is the common factor of the 2871 line http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/products/turbochargers.html#medium.

As far as a .86 gt2871r, might as well go with a gt3071r or 3076r. For 400whp ther is not better turbo IMO then the 3071r. It wont be blowing hot air and that is right in the efficiency of the 3071r. You will get better transient response from the 3071r and a lower boost threshold then a .86 2871r.

I know you were talking about the 3076r, but unless you want ~500whp, the 3071 is a better choice for ~480. And it will be alot more fun on a daily with 15psi of boost ~3700rpm on a 9:1 cr engine from what I have seen. The 3076r will give you 15psi by ~4250 on the same motor.

What problems do you see in it?

Just for comparison between both turbos, these are the specs on each:

GT2871R (Flow capacity of 400 HP)
Turbine
-Wheel: 53.85mm w/ 76 trim
-Housing: .86 or .64 ar

Compressor
-Wheel: 71mm w/ 56 trim
-Housing: .60 ar

GT2876R aka GT25/40R (Flow capacity of 450 HP)
Turbine
-Wheel: 53mm w/ 62 trim
-Housing: .64 ar, .86 ar

Compressor
-Wheel: 76mm w/ 48 trim
-Housing: .70 ar

My opinion, I think the GT2876R isn't bad at all. Gives you that inbetween turbo between the GT3071R and the GT2871R.

You have to have a reason behind your opinion. Its obviuos by what they are saying it makes inbetween hp of the turbos listed above. You can find that on the ATP web site.

I have run this turbo before around 1997

This turbo is also known as the GT2840R and first came into the market and was sold by HKS. This turbo is a very bad match of comp and turbine wheels. When the Comp wheel starts to get into its peak effiency range the turbine wheel is going quickly out of its effiency range.

The best choice of turbos like I said is the GT2871R and GT3076R

The GT3076R is also known as the Incon GTBB37 which was a major force in many monster mustang and corvette turbo kits. When the USA caught up with Incons designs they lost their grip in the USA as they were readyily available.

Look how long I have had my Incon GTBB37 and now hol long has this turbo called the GT3076R been on the market. Even Lance bought this same turbo and he will tell you it is incredible.

I have been pushing these small turbos from back in the mid 90s. They are compact, supercharger like response and big hp numbers.
