i love my 2871r .86ar, spools like a champ and pulls like a monster...i still would like to be in the 400-475whp range or in the 11's but the more i think about it i should just stick with the set-up i have now and do minor things here and there and i most likely could do high 11's/low 12's with good driving and traction lol

ive seen some 240's with the 2871r making over 400whp on pump

The first question is what is your WHP goal, when you answer that I will answer the question

Making 400 WHP on this turbo should be no problem.

I do not agree that is completly safe to make 400 WHP on this turbo as that power level will be made around 20 PSI or so.

I feel after 15 PSI of boost one should step up the octane alittle. My friends SER which runs 11.8 @122 MPH at 17 PSI with a DP turbo is doing so on pump gas. There is room for back and forth but 15 PSI is my general rule of thumb.

If I was going to run 20 PSI on a 2871R I would run 1 gallon C16 to 10 gallons 93 octane.

well im not too sure on what sort of power to expect with the engine build you see, bearing in mind its an R so my 400WHP is going to be around 500 crank working on 25% losses, my aim with the VE head is to make more power using less boost, less torque on the R is going to more firendly on the geabox, so maybe a 3076R on a lower boost setting will be better, for say 350 4WHP?

Very easy combo to run 11.5-11.8 on the 2871R turbo.

JWT or Calum ECU
740cc injs
300ZX MAF
3 in MAF to Turbo pipe
2.5 in intercooler piping
Ebay Intercooler
JWT S4 cams
3inch exhaust
Fidanza flywheel
Good clutch

17-20 PSI.

^I like the way protech's manifolds are as well. I have spoke with a couple of guys on the board that run them, and they had nothing but good things to say about them.......I have been leaning towards running that one on my setup.

i agree, if anything i am going to eventually try and draw more power out of my motor than to up the boost pressures to make over 400whp, either, boost charge cooling methods, retuned on c16,O2 manifold, throttle body...those methods look promising to get me over 400whp without having to get my boost pressures over 20psi on the 2871r

Well Andreas, my set-up is the following

JDM sr20de
GT2871r .86 ar/gti-r mani
3" downpipe/ exhaust no cat/no res.
JWT ECU tuned for
z32 maf/444cc inj/4 bar/9:5:1 comp
bc stage 2 cams
2.5 IC pipes
2.75"thick x 22"L x 9"H FMIC
b15 lsd trans
6 puck unsprung clutch/extreme HD PP

Im curious and would very like to know please what do you think my set-up is capable of doing 1/4 times/WHP range in your opinion and what would you suggest i should change or do to get more power of of my setup..

You are limited by a few things.

Injs size and compression

Lets say you run 12 PSI, that should net you 315-325 WHP you should run 12.5 @ 115 MPH.

With these turbos for the best 1/4 mile results shift the car at
7800 RPMs 1st gear and 7000 RPMS 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
