You cant count the 99 P11 tranny as a P11 tranny, thats an old school tranny.

The newer 00-02 trannys dont go out like that,

But they do blow. He blew out 4th on the 01 P11 as described. Sure it took a lot longer, but it still went bye bye.

You are arguing a point that is silly. No one has ever said the newer P11 tranny will not brake. All that has been said it will last way longer. 3 years of a motor making 400-500 WHP or hard abuse should say something.

No trans that is designed to take 150 HP will stand up to 3 times or 4 times the power for ever. Nothing is forever. Everything will eventually die or break, its inevitable.

You put an old school tranny in a 500 WHP car you are just throwing away money. The best thing is the P11, even the 6 spd trannies brake.

Dre,

All I'm saying is what I highlighted in your post. We both said it, just in different ways. I'm not arguing the fact that it's somehow not believable that the 99 P11 broke. Everyone knows that the stack is the same as the horrid B13/B14 stack.

hehehehehehe.

Yes the P11 (the REAL one) will last longer. But I broke one, and I am easy on the clutch when shifting. Mine blew at the top of 2nd gear, just before shifting to 3rd. I thought the exhaust was dragging on the ground too lol.

Yes they break, but mine took over 20K miles of well over 100 drag passes on street tires. Here's hoping the new one holds up even better since it has WAY less miles on it to begin with.

exactly why im going 6 speed. I was talking to mazworx today and just the side by side comparison from an older 5 speed and yes even the 00+ P11 trans is a night and day difference. He was saying the gears look at least 10X as beefier than even the P11 trans. No only are the gears wider the teeth are thicker and made of better materials. He was saying they should hold up for a long time in a very high hp SR.

My stuff is on order as we speak. No more Sr trannies for me. Ill also be running an 85w 140 gear oil in it as well for extra cusion. Cant wait.
