No luck the clutch started to slip lol bad. It worked for 1 night at the 1/8th mile track then it started to slip at the end of the track. he went 6.9@94 and today going into 3rd and 4th it was just game over.

Time for the 6 speed swap. Or twin disk setup. He is pushing beyond the limits of a single plate clutch. Comp clutch can do a whole kit for him for less than anywhere else.

a twin disk set up would be sweet on that car.

He is looking at clutch masters since they are local. They have a new twin disk that isn't like a on and off switch. He isn't too convinced that the 6spd can take the power just by looking at the gears.

lol, seriously? Really? You know the 6 speed box was originally designed to hold on a 300hp, 270 ft-lb V6 right not a 140hp 4cyl motor that our trans were originally designed to hold. Even Mazworx has said these 6 speed trans should hold reliably to 600+ hp easily, no matter the clutch type. Have you seen the side by side comparison of gear thickness, size, gearbox, case design. Its a night and day difference.

My competition twin disk was not anything like an on/off switch. Once used to it, its very easy to drive. And you know the Clutchmasters setup is basicly identical to the Competition clutch setup right? lol. They use basicly the same parts at least designed the same. I know the twin disks can be harsh on gearboxes but again I dont foresee any problems with the 6 speed holding the power and taking the abuse from the twin disk. I just use 85w-140 gear oil and it seems to cusion the gears very nicely. Ive yet to break a gearstack on the old boxes when using that.

There are a lot of advantages with the 6 speed but i understand its money. Just the conversion to the 6 speed alone for me cost me around 2500, but thats including the clutch setup as well. But i think its gonna be more than worth it in the end.

But hey what do i know, ive only seen side by side comparisons and so on. Not to mention beefier axles, hubs, better LSD, bigger input shaft, smoother shifting, and more.

they are much beefier than any of the 5 speeds...

How in the world did he jump to that conclusion?

it's simple nobody has used it yet to say that it won't. From his point of view I can understand. He hasn't started blowing up his trans for snapping axles yet in his car.

eh i say live and let live, whatever is or isnt going to work for him. may or may not worth for you. 6 speed conversions are worth it, if you are going big. then you need to upgrade big it is what it is. im not sure if the 6 speed is justified but the pros are there
