I still think 461whp is overkill with our chassis, but yet so epic.

Something I've always wondered:

Is A/F ratio the key to adjusting octane? What performance parts can increase HP while keeping a low octane level and why?

Things like good turbo manifolds, intake manifolds, port and polish work, cams. Basicly making the engine more efficient without increasing boost pressure. The more power you can make on lower boost pressures is basicly how efficient your engine is. Turbo sizing also plays a part in this. Using a larger turbine housing with a good size compressor will result in alot better topend without the risk of detonation. You will lose power down low but you can still achieve good power by 4800 or so and hold that to say 8k or 9k depending on what head your running and whats done to the head. (ie springs and retainers and cams)

Its all about efficiency. The more efficient the engine the less need for race fuel as there is alot less chance of detonation as long as your a/f is kept good.

Thanks for the info! Good explanation

I made 445 on 93 but i recently swithed to E85. Everyone keeps saying it's corrosive but if you read up on it you would realize it's safe to use. One of the only downfalls it has is consumption. I know people that have been using it for a while with no issues. They say cars made from late 80s to present should have no problems. You just have to make sure your fuel system and ECU is up to par to handle the extra flow needed.

kev is the idle affected by it? I know you are running big injectors so I just want to see what you have to say.

Just from what I have picked up from a lot of my friends running E-85 yes the idle will be affected but, it is tolerable.

Thats what I thought my idle is pretty damn good without the IACV and the other bullcrap. The problem is there isnt to many locations around me and I need to change the tune around. Thanks Rob

I am all about running E-85 but, in my area the availabilty sucks. I am going to run 93 and shoot for mid to upper 400's which could be made easily. That will be enough for considering it's a street car. If I get to the point that I want more from time to time I will just drop some C16 in and call it a day.

Well i know it has alot to do with the 1600cc injectors. I'm running on a tune setup for 871cc with ajustments done by my e-manage. It idles good but sometimes it dips a little. I have no issues with stalling or anything like that just sometimes at idle it goes a little lean for a second or two. Like i said nothing i can't live with. I should have went with 1200cc injectors but my friend switched to something bigger in his Evo and past those on to me. Compared to how much i would have to spend for racing gas or new injectors i think it idles beautiful .
