Thread: BIG BOOST Mid Sized Turbo guys what are your numbers?

So I've seen alot of guys running around here with Huge turbos pushing 25-30lbs. Where are the small to Mid sized GT2871r's with big boost and what are your numbers?

I plan on running my Greedy 18g at 25lbs with 100octane plus S4's once its all said and done. Ill be looking for a Super responsive 420whp or something very close to it. You read about guys saying they can make 400whp+ on these mid sized turbos at 20psi but no one ever does it. It can be done pretty easily though. Where are you guys at? Post some setups with numbers.

Honestly I don't think any t2 turbo can be considered a mud sized turbo. Yes there are those that have made 400 plus on them but its risky and innefficient at that point I would consider between a 50 and 60 trim turbo a mud sized turbo the turbo I'm running with the larger turbine housing still makes full boost by about 4800 and holds power solid all the way to 8k without plunging off. My turbo is good for roughly 550 whp at 30 psi on my setup. Any larger of a turbo I would consider big turbos.

What he said, don't waste your time on T2 turbos. Your basically going to be at the upper limit of the turbo which is putting strain on things. Might as well get a slightly bigger turbo which is efficient in that range.

I have seen a t2 gt3071r make 490whp at 28psi. in fact he is on this forum. I am going to try and break 500whp with the same turbo on my ve-t. I will running it external gate with a custom el asp manifold.

Not saying they cannot make power but these turbos are clearly maxed out.

why put a turbo on the edge of its effeciency range when you can have a t3 turbo that will be perfect for your goals?

My t2 version will walk all over the t3 version of this turbo and it will not be at the edge at 24psi. Its all how the car is tuned and what parts are put together.
