Internal Wastegate retaining clip alternatives?
Hey,

Anyone know if you can get the wastegate retaining clip at a hardware store or is there some sort of alternative I can use?

Neither my turbo or wastegate came w/one and I really don't want to spend another $9 for shipping through ATP for a $2 part.

Retaining Clip for internal wastegate housings : atpturbo.com

Thanks!

Not done the "right" way, but I put some metal tie wire and twisted it around really tight. Has stayed on just fine for several months now.

Ive also used a small washer and clipped half and bent it around it. Held up great for over a year.

E clip looks like it should work. Thanks, I'll look for one.

hmm actually, just got back from Home Depot. They had 'retaining clips' lol

Didn't look exactly like the ones from ATP, but similar. It seems like the 1/8" clip works. At least it's on there and pressure to try to get the wastegate arm off isn't breaking it loose. I'll see how long this holds. Only $0.52 too!

hmmm

Check out the 'E Clip' or the retaining clips at Home Depot. Those seem like they would work better than a C clip. I think some cars actually come stock w/E clips to hold the wastegate on from what I've read.

Ya, I'm not sure how long this HD retaining clip will hold, I think I'll keep a spare or maybe an E clip in the car just in case.
