Yes those mods must be done. Those mods are so small I consider them a bolt on even though you do have to make some minor changes. You could also run the stock tranny. If yours needs to be rebuilt I would look for a b15 or p11 tranny. There are a few for sale right now.

If your stock tranny is fine then use it. My car has been boosted for over 6 years and I am still on the stock b13 tranny. Its all about clutch selection and how you drive.

I have about 10k on the car since it was turboed. That includes three different setup that have been on the car. Mods to the tranny--1) I opened the tranny and inspected it for damage and had all the specs checked. 2) I used epoxy and closed in the are around the pass input 3) redline shock proof fluid. Other than that its a stock tranny. I run a act xtss clutch and I have place racing motor mounts.

In my opinion i would just boost the factory de with a gtir kit and get a set of cams and the rest of the bolt ons and you will prob be very close to your goal.

VET is very expensive. Not worth it unless you want more than 400whp all the time. Prob isn't even worth it then.

My VET is around 500whp now, but I feel like the DE route would have been much easier and cheaper. I'd prob draw the line at 450whp. Anything over that and you prob should go VE. Plus you get the bling factor and you can give your Vtec buddies a "vtec hug".

The look on their faces... priceless.
