People will tell you that only fools run 0-30 on a turbo but IMO it gives good startups in the winter and GC acts more like a 40 weight when hot according to my BITOG research.
The thing is even with UOAs and good research you still don't know for sure. Even though you aren't consuming oil it doesn't mean the engine is properly lubricated at 6krpm and full boost or at startup fwiw.
Couldn't agree with you more. You have to "know" what's going on just by listening, IMO. That's how I know that I'm not satisfied with Valvoline. Chatter is just a bit less apparent than with M1. I'm amped to try GC, and see how well it performs for my particular application.
I don't understand some people's logic on running a 0w30 on a turbo car. You don't necessarily need a 10 weight in the winter months. As a matter of fact, the head sounds like it's going to fall off first thing in the morning with 10w30 on cold start. I don't like it. If I can lower the weight on cold start to aid in lubrication of critical components, I'm all over it. It'll also help me determine if the piston slap is worse than before, or not
