That's FAR from the truth. Lack of coolant on a BB center section will coke the oil in the cartridge faster than on a JB center section. BB center sections require less oil in order to lubricate the bearings, which is why it's smarter to run coolant thru the CHRA.

It's been proven time and time again that a BB CHRA will last longer than a 270 or 360 degree race CHRA, because of the design. You will in fact spool a BB faster than a JB CHRA as well.

Don't run coolant thru your BB CHRA, that's your choice. I wouldn't do it at the risk of throwing away a $1200 3076R.

I've been running garrett BB turbos for a few years now without any problems.

yup. Garrett fully backs their BB CHRA's against failure. The only 2 things they wont cover is damage due to oil starvation/contamination or if you ingest fod.

Just looking at the components you cant argue that the BB is better. What people do and how they ruin their turbos is up to them. At that point its a case by case basis.

Bottom line: journal bearing turbos are made to be rebuilt. Most BB CHRA are completely sealed.

From what Ive read you dont have to run coolant on the older turbos but its dumb not to on the BB CHRA for the reasons mentioned above.

42r seems to do well on the full race built evolutions, on a bigbore ve seems like it would do good...

if money is spent on a 42R sized turbo (Borgwarner or Garrett), be prepared to spend some cash on the driveline :P

Eric, don't put a 42r on the car, stick with the 6262 or the 35r... You will be much happier.

The 42R is a badass turbo for a drag race application. We ran the same turbo for two years without an issue. This was back with the S14 and was running a 2.0 liter motor at the time. The new GTX turbos will be even badder.

The 35r is on the NX ...I might be doing somthing else as soon as the NX is completed...somthing possibly tubbed out , that is all I want to say ....putting it on the NX would be cool , but I need to wrap this project up , and start somthing new , well old but new to me my ....could really be fun
