Competition Twin Disk Review/Opinion
Well i just got my car back on the road with the new intake manifold w/ Q45 throttle body, Competition Twin Disk Clutch setup and a 96 P10 gearstack installed into one of my old trannies.

Overall after a good 1 1/2 hours of driving with the new clutch all i have to really say is dang this clutch grabs hard. It really isnt that hard to drive but its more of just a pain than anything. Once you get used to where the clutch grabs at its not that difficult to drive. There is a spot where it starts to grab and right after that its fully engaged no matter what you try to do.

I feel bad for this new gearstack in the trans as it is literally going to take the hardest abuse ever with this clutch in there. You have to leave the line when stop and go or at a light from at least 1800-2000 for the smoothest result. If you try and go before that you will get a hell of a lot of chatter.

Other than that though im very impressed on how it holds and its again not too difficult to drive once you get used to it.

BTW i have my clutch converted to hydraulic and the pedal is very very stiff with this clutch as well so i could only imagine how it would feel like on a cable setup. haha

Ill post some pics of the engine bay after i detail the car tommorrow. Its pretty dirty right now.

rob ive ran nothing but act clutchs on my nx's.

i currently am running a act xt pp with a 6 puck sprung disc. i love this clutch.

i would recommend you get the sprung 6 puck as it will be less harsh on your tranny.

Thats what i was using before this clutch ACT extreme pp w/ 6 puck sprung, ive also used the 4 puck unsprung and neither one of those clutches even compared to this twin disk as far as grab goes. Its a totally different clutch.

The ACT just wouldnt hold the power im at and thats the reason for the switch. Couldnt do a 2nd gear burnout on the 24.5" slicks and then make a run without it slipping badly. This should do it without even a flinch.

I am also a ACT man. I have ran pretty much all their set ups on my car. Like you my favorite is the XT PP with a 6 puck. That's what I ran on my old turbo set up. Only thing is I prefer the 6 puck with no springs. Not a fan of spings popping out and what not.

I was considering a twin disk due to the fact of shooting for high power this time. I am not one to be changing **** out once I have things all buttoned up. Regardless I will stick with the 6 puck unsprung with a XT PP.

I am in the same spot. I want to go with the six puck but I don't need springs to be poppin out. I though about using the clutchnet sprung 4 puck because the springs are well proctected. I have to figure something out because the new set will make over 400lbft. I might try a few combinations since I have a xt pp and a jwt hd pp.
