Sure it could still be done as well for cheaper, but that's splitting hairs in my opinion.

Take the $1600 and buy a Syncrowave 200. (best Tig for the $ IMHO)

Another $200 for a band saw.

A few weeks of practice and you can mimic those welds, never paying a dime for fab work again.

Just something to think about for the future..

Some people aren't DIYers, or they make more money per hour than they'd be saving by doing it themselves, or they don't have space for a workshop, or, or, or.

I hope you're not telling me to buy a TIG and learn to weld.

I was saying it as a general statement.

You hope im not telling you? I guess that would imply you already own, or know how to TIG. I dont know you or what you do, just sharing my thoughts.

It's good advice as a general rule, but there are many reasons why it would be a step in the wrong direction for some people to "do it yourself" and I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I know you weren't telling me to get a TIG specifically. I was just making a joke (as you guessed, I'm already a budding welder). =]

I see where you are coming from. Sometimes it is hard for people who do or learn to do everything on there own to see the other side of things.

Everyone has their own reasons I guess. Either way, good luck with the build David.

Thanks, and the reason I did not do the work myself, Ben already explained it well enough... It would be useless for me to buy $4K+ worth of equipment that would take 2 months to actually purchase in full price, not to mention screwing up on parts since its the first attempt. I certainly would not like to see my $400 A2W intercooler core with holes in it due to my inexperience in manipulating heat and current. All in all only a couple weeks worth of work at my regular job 60+ hrs, and I'm done with my intercooler setup. But here in TX, I know people that can get the tasks I want done, completed in a proffessional manner and without any hassles or putting things off due to other customers. I have much more business to give him, and I don't mind paying for it, since I prefer to keep my eyesite and also the sensation in my fingers... even though I am a tech by trade myself, just not a fabricator. Although I did make some killer aluminum radiator mounts for a friend...

I pay for quality...not just...it works doesn't it. If I wanted it just to work, I would go to Jersey.

Nice work but should have spend more and get a burns collector. Plus i think Burns has the best welds.

The Jerry Springer Final Thought::::: I love Air-water IC's, I dont love Air-Wallet... Especially for that setup you have on the car.

The parts are nice and the work is very nice. Just not practical for the difference in efficiency nor for the setup you put it on. Maybe for the environment you live in, but as stated from other Texas residents on this forum the arguement really isnt in your favor... BTW Just my Opinion above, not taking shots at anyone... As stated its your $$$ your decisions your vehicle! I hope you enjoy what you have done to upgrade it and thats all..
