your rods will be the weak point. Mazworx was using a stock crank in their build to 1200+rwhp without issues, the crank would be a hard one to break. Our cranks are pretty larger and beefy.

The blocks will not crack at no 350whp. Not a chance in hell. It will run all day all night beat to hell on that power level. I ran 460-550whp for over a year and 11k miles but I didnt have stock rods either. CP pistons/Eagle Rods/ ACL race bearings, headstuds, and cosworth headgasket.

I havent seen a stock sr20 block yet crack a block or sleeve. Most people sleeve the blocks if they want to go into the 700+whp range just to be safe. You dont have to worry about the blocks through.

Interesting.. I don't know a whole lot about SR's as such but don't know where this tuner got his info from but seemed pretty hellbent on block issues, I also assume stock rods will handle over 450 engine hp too? My engine is running microtech which is really a rotary computer too. I really need to check actual boost levels too. Does 270rwkw on 22psi sound right, I have an old dyno sheet showing 280rwkw on 18psi.. Strange?

I would not leave stock rods if you are looking for 450hp

They are approx $7500 for a bare block

they not only do blocks but they also do billet cylinder heads as well but mostly only for the V8 boys

been around for years thought every one knew about these guys already
a few workshops here in Australia are doing them now

A billet SR block with extra deck height to accept a QR25 crank while maintaining decent rod ratios and a matching VE head with reversed flow would be a nice option for the N/A crowd. But damn, that's a lot of money.
